COURSE OVERVIEW

“Presenting is not a dying art; it’s one of the fundamental assets of every successful person”

The overall aim of the Effective Presentation Skills (EPS) is, via the use of practical and interactive learning techniques and video footage, to assist delegates to develop into exceptional and confident presenters.  Given that organisations rely heavily on presentations as a form of communication it is a necessary skill for employees to have, both to the benefit of themselves and the organisation.

  1. Influencing skills

In the area of influencing skills the following will be developed:

  • Ability to successfully build support for ideas without the use of hierarchical power
  • Ability to win support for ideas and projects
  • Ability in building effective relationships with colleagues, clients and customers
  • Managing of perceptions of confidence, credibility and power
  • Assist in providing delegates with the interpersonal understanding required to measure what the audience is feeling and thinking during the presentation
  • Opportunity for delegates to practice becoming effective presenters
  • Tactics to lobby key stakeholders beforehand
  • Lastly, the EPS programme will provide delegates with the ability to make impactful presentations

In the area of confidence the EPS programme will develop the following:

  • Ability to understand and find the core messages they want to communicate and to do so in a clear and concise presentation
  • Teach delegates that self-confidence can be generated through preparation
  • Develop assertiveness – the ability to express views confidently and in a constructive manner

3.         Learning from experience

The EPS programme will make use of video footage of delegates while they are presenting and, thereby, provide them with a basis from which to learn from their “mistakes”.  Through the use of this footage delegates will be able to assess themselves and each other and identify the development opportunities that they have in order to become effective presenters.   Use of this form of learning mechanism will create an environment for positive development from actual experience.
